Event Details

Paul Petro Contemporary Art is proud to present The Moon Swept Down, a solo exhibition by acclaimed Canadian artist Zachari Logan, on view from November 14 to December 20, 2025.

Taking its title from a line in Joni Mitchell’s song “For the Roses,” this exhibition captures ever-shifting notions of identity, place, and the nature of memory — illuminated by the soft, reflective glow of the moon.

The show includes new monumental drawings, paintings, prints, and installation works that explore Logan’s ongoing themes of selfhood, queerness, and interconnection through figuration and landscape.

At the heart of the exhibition is Diana (2025), a six-panel chalk pastel on black paper depicting the Greek goddess of the hunt and the moon — reimagined through a queer lens of reflection and self-representation. In this reinterpretation, Diana becomes both hunter and landscape, inviting viewers to question their own gaze and place within the natural world.

As Logan explains,

“The landscape is entirely fictive and also entirely authentic — drawn from memory, from lived experience of nature, of land, and of self.”

Through these works, Logan merges myth, memory, and personal identity, positioning queerness not as separate from nature, but as an integral part of it.
