Mariposa by Cesar Forero
This project recalls the word “Mariposa” (“Butterfly”), which in Colombian culture has been used as a slur toward men with feminine mannerisms. Through art and costume, Cesar Forero reclaims the word by celebrating the butterfly as a symbol of beauty, transformation, and resilience. The works depict the evolution from caterpillar to butterfly, emphasizing the vibrant and triumphant adult phase that not all beings reach.
Antigua, Muros de Arte by Michelle Letarte
Inspired by a trip to La Antigua, Guatemala, Michelle Letarte captures the textures and history of the city’s façades, monasteries, and colourful houses. By transferring photographs onto recycled canvases, removing paper layers, and applying acrylic paint, Letarte recreates the aged walls of Antigua. The works convey the richness of history, hidden emotions, and the vibrancy of Guatemala’s cultural heritage.
