About the Performance:
No More News for Nancy is a 25-minute interactive multidisciplinary performance and installation created and performed by Keira Marie Forde.
Combining spoken word, movement, sound, and digital media, the work explores the effects of 24-hour news cycles on marginalized communities and the desensitization caused by constant exposure to trauma.
The story follows Nancy, a biracial Gen Z millennial cusp whose empathy makes her “too sensitive” for society. Enrolled in a fictional government program called TIN (Trapped In News), Nancy is forced to confront the psychological toll of information overload while reflecting on questions of identity, truth, and resistance:
🌀 Why do conspiracy theories exist?
🌀 How is access to information both helpful and harmful?
🌀 What is it like as a Black person to consume painful news daily?
Through dance, poetry, and audience participation, No More News for Nancy challenges how media shapes empathy and community consciousness — all while handing out nostalgic 90s/2000s “goodie bags” to the audience.
