Opening Reception: Saturday, February 14th, 2 to 5 pm
Artist Talks: Sunday, March 1st, 2 pm
This group exhibition brings together over 100 artists working in mixed media to explore the expressive possibilities that emerge through combination, layering, and material dialogue. Process often remains visible, materials retain their presence, and meaning arises through tension, accumulation, and transformation.
Together, these works celebrate the rich history of mixed media artwork. From contemporary practice to prehistoric art, mixed media has been an integral part of artistic expression. Indeed, many of the earliest cave paintings were mixed media artworks. They combined incisions on stone with mineral pigments, animal fat, charcoal, and clay. When modern artists, such as Odilon Redon and Hannah Höch, created mixed media works, they built upon a long tradition.
Eureka! celebrates the rich heritage and creative depth of mixed media.
