Intangible Experiences is an exhibition of abstract art mounted in honour of the late painter Gwen Tooth, whose canvases anchor the show. The community’s response to our call for submissions describing an emotional or intellectual experience through form, texture, colour, gesture, and line was overwhelming. The exhibition features 89 works in the gallery and 88 works online.
Gwen Tooth (1945 – 2025)
Gwen was an active member of Propeller from 2013 – 2025. Her exuberant abstract works resulted in many series of paintings that embodied her interest in the abstraction of still-life subjects, landscapes, and the forces of nature. She used colour and expressive brushstrokes to transform the gallery space into a vibrant and compelling environment.
Gwen’s works also charted her personal journey, and she described her paintings as being “as much outer landscapes as the inner scapes of my mind and soul.”
