Edward Gajdel
by Rob Sysak, September 4, 2015“I have been creating editorial portraits for several decades, and have been blessed to have met and photographed many amazing people along the way. The transformation from analogue to digital has become the fertile soil upon which the nonlinear-portrait© took root. This evolution of The Portrait is my evolution as an artist, and I am thrilled to be able to now bring the viewer deeper into the psyche of the subject, beyond the doorway that the still image left one at. Though the power of the frozen moment is by no means undermined in this process, I look to the nonlinear-portrait© to articulate what was previously inferred. This new body of work introduces the subject in a nonlinear manner, allowing the rich complexity of their thoughts, opinions, gestures and mannerisms to provide the narrative. I welcome you to join me as we explore these frontiers together.”
