Angela Porter
by Rob Sysak, September 4, 2015Angela is a Toronto based artist who works primarily in acrylic and watercolour, and in an illustrative style. She has had amazing success in private commissions and commercial works since her graduation from York University where she received a BFA Honours degree.
In her illustrative, immediate style she seeks to arouse and challenge the idea of muse and gaze in the current expedient digital/social culture. Her unique style of black lines is an homage to fashion art but also the lines seek to examine the dilution of the physical realm of images as they seemingly disappear in technology.
Angela started receiving art awards at the age of 10. She is the great granddaughter of one of Canada’s leading artists, Bertram Brooker, who has inspired and influenced her ideas and vision.
