Come out to the WEST QUEEN WEST
Home to the city's newest music school....
Toronto Institute for the Enjoyment of Music...
"...The Toronto Institute for the Enjoyment of Music may sound like an obscure society for beard-stroking artistes, but the bright, airy, loft-like space, nestled between clothing boutiques and cafes on Queen Street West, is actually home to the city's newest music school..."
"...Local pianist and instructor Howard Goldbach decided to open the Institute after finding that traditional music lessons in private homes or stuffy studios left students bored and unmotivated to practise their instruments. He jumped at the chance to establish a modern, welcoming space in the Queen West area and to capitalize on the neighbourhood's artistic bent ( "It just seemed fitting that a music school would be part of an arts scene," Goldbach notes), taking over a former antique shop and outfitting it with eight studio rooms of varying sizes and a cozy open-concept front space that will be home to live performances (Goldbach's college chums, rising Vancouver band Mother Mother, played an intimate concert for the Institute's launch), seminars and master classes..."
