Owner/Operator Bio: Sydney Mamane started out as a stylist. Within two years, he had found a niche in the film industry working in the wardrobe department of countless productions. This is where he taught himself elementary skills in sewing, cutting, draping, and pattern drafting.

After six solid years in wardrobe, he took a position apprenticing an experienced tailor, which solidified his expertise in advanced sewing techniques, tailoring, construction, cutting, and draping.

Upon leaving his apprenticeship, he started a custom bespoke denim program out of a small Toronto-based studio. The custom denim quickly expanded into bespoke suiting for which demand grew rapidly.

In 2005, Sydney opened a world-class menswear shop on Toronto’s Queen Street West. While running his retail business, he spent four years meticulously perfecting and developing his own label KIN.

About the Store: Sydney Mamane opened his eponymous shop on Toronto’s Queen Street West in time for the Spring/Summer season of 2005. At that time, the store had a contemporary assortment of brands and also offered bespoke suiting as well as custom denim and tailoring services.
