Little Tibet Restaurant
Little Tibet is a family affair. Husband and wife team Lhamo Gongya and husband Nam Gyal, both Tibetan, are still at the helm. She cooks; he handles the front-of-house. Gongya follows her mother's recipes, replicating the authentic Tibetan home cooking on which she was raised. Largely vegetable-based, but incorporating some beef and chicken, this cuisine borrows liberally from its neighbours: From China, noodles; from India, curry. According to Gongya, Tibetan food is mild, and relies on a chili-based hot sauce, which she makes from ginger, garlic, chili powder and Tibetan red peppercorn - also offered for sale by the jar.
